HappinessCharge Precure END

So. It's been nearly a month since I finished HaCha. I've blown past all self-imposed deadlines and I'm about to start the next season in two weeks. What do I even want to write about HaCha at this point.
Pre-Rewatch impressions!
It bears repeating that ten years ago I very nearly dropped Precure as a whole. I was going through my own stuff during Dokis' run that made that season less than enjoyable, but HaCha didn't really have that same excuse. There were the constant comparisons to Heartcatch, the weirdo CG-card attack gimmicks, AND THEN... there were those terrible mid-season episodes that was just het bombardment. Nothing but het in your face everywhere all at once. I hated it. And then there was even more het and then there was even Nice Guy grievances at the end??? This season truly does deserve the "HetCharge" moniker.
About the only thing good that stuck with me was "Innocent Harmony" because that song's the best. Helps that it's accompanied by their hilariously bad make-up routine lmao.
Post-Rewatch!
I have gained a whole new appreciation for Hime. How is she not the main character? I think I only managed to enjoy HaCha once I realized that the show was really about Hime being amazing and collecting all the girls for her harem. Hime's such a good character. I'm totally aboard the Iona/Hime train too, whereas I was merely hanging off 10 years ago because I like the idea of hateships?? and they were the only semi-plausible thing in the show. Someone give me more Iona/Hime but not me because I don't have the energy for it but I want them to date!!
My complaint about those three episodes at the halfway point still stands. I don't drink, but if I did I would've needed to down several bottles to get through those terrible crap episodes. What have I done to deserve sitting through three episodes of bad het. Not even good het. Just terrible, crap het. And fine, I was wrong about Seiji cuz I gueeeesss he didn't explicitly complain about being such a Nice Guy and that was just Red's interpretation but there had to be a seed of that otherwise he wouldn't have gotten his ass so easily manipulated. I'm not even sure about the resolution to that piece cuz I zoned out.
And I totally misremembered Red's motivations?? I thought he was in a love triangle (ANOTHER ONE?!?!?!) with Blue and Mirage this whole time and that's why he was so anti-love but NOPE. Turns out he loved his planet and his planet died. .................WTF. What's that gotta do about love. Did he want his planet to love him back??? Is this literally the inverse of "better to have love and lost than to never have loved at all"? "Love hurts so let me smash my dead red ball into your lively blue balls." They were trying too hard to tie his motivations back to the overarching theme of love and it doesn't land for me at all. Why would anyone compare love for your planet to love for another person. As much as I can't with het, it probably would've made more sense to throw another love triangle in there if that's what you're gonna do.
And many more complaints! (read: Blue's whole existence. wow, i have a problem with all the dudes, go figure)
Look. I tried to give Het HaCha a chance, but this has gotta be my least favourite season ever =_=
