I feel like Miyuki would struggle trying to square her feelings for Reika because of heteronormativity and her lack of exposure to same sex relationships. I mean, she's not the type to gaypanic and angst about it, but I feel like she would approach it in a confused and inquisitive way. That's why Nissan being an already established couple (as much as Akane likes to deny it) is so important to this narrative—they're the ones who tell Miyuki that it's possible to be in love with another girl. I headcanon Miyuki as being more on the ace spectrum so her recognizing that this kind of love exists is important. That's not to discount Yayoi at all, since her (anime) worldliness gives Miyuki an extra boost of confidence in her feelings.
